Silent Key: Harold Ober, K0YC

Harold passed away December 24th after a long struggle with cancer. His funeral will be at 11:00 AM Saturday January 9th in the Saylorville Baptist Church, 6429 Northwest 6th Drive.

  1. Harold Ober was a great gentleman and a fantastic amatuer! When I and my wife resided in the Des Moines area from 1985-1988, he was instrumental in the packet, 2-mtr and HF scene. Involved in most everything the amateur community had to offer, he was also a fine human being. What he would do to help and inspire others were beyond words. I recall the days we spent in his hamshack, running various modes and just good fellowship between operators. Since our relocation up north, I’ve lost complete touch with Harold and it was only through the information given me by another fellow HAM in the Des Moines area that I was made aware of Harold’s passing.
    Thank you Harold for the times we had to know one another. You will be sorely missed! You’ve left a lasting impression on my life whether you knew it or not!
