The Des Moines Radio Amateurs’ Association is moving forward with support for the 59th Jamboree On The Air, the world’s largest annual scouting jamboree. In a typical year, JOTA draws over 1 million scouts in over 150 countries to make contacts on over 11,000 stations operated by over 20,000 amateurs worldwide. With permission from the board of directors, this year’s Mid-Iowa Council JOTA station will be making contacts worldwide using the DMRAA call sign W0AK. This effort is one of over a 100 stations currently registered with the World Organization of the Scout Movement in the United States and one of over 500 worldwide. Registration has been open for about a week now and will remain open for another 5 weeks until the Jamboree On The Air so the number of registered stations will only continue to build. The scouts of Mid-Iowa Council are thankful for the support of the DMRAA. Keep an eye open for further developments as we get closer to the big day!
