Scott, NØOOD has announced that Polk County ARES is now in possession of a new EMCOMM trailer.
The new trailer is a tandem 7’ by 16’ trailer. It is larger than the previous trailer which is 6’ by 10’. The new trailer will be called “EMCOMM 1”. This trailer is in the process of having the 12-volt distribution system, antennas and shelving installed. The trailer is air-conditioned and has a separate box on the tongue that will house the generator. Built-in cabinets will house masts, brooms, tools and supplies. The trailer utilizes LED interior and exterior lights as well as a 500 watt equivalent LED flood light.
This trailer was acquired through a FEMA grant administered by Polk County Emergency Management.
The older trailer will be retained as a back-up. It is now labeled as “EMCOMM 2”.
Thanks to the financial support of the DMRAA, we will be able to outfit the trailer with radios, antennas, and power supplies.
The goal is to use EMCOMM-1 at the Living History Farms event in November.
