D-Star up and running in Des Moines area

Those of you that have finally gotten around to reading the manual to your new ICOM rig or your DV Dongle (no comments from the peanut gallery, please) will be pleased to know that a D-Star repeater is now up in running at the tower site.

The UHF frequency is now 443.175+ . At the present time the D-Star call for the repeater is “WØSCI B” (with real spaces and sans quotes). To you non-D-Starniks, D-Star has a whole new way of doing things as:

“WØSCI A” is for 1.2Ghz
“WØSCI B” is for UHF; and
“WØSCI C” is for VHF

To talk locally, program your radio as follows:

MyCall = Your Call Sign
UrCall = CQCQCQ
RPT1 = WØSCI B
RPT2 = blank
