The DMRAA board at the January board meeting voted to join the Yaesu digital excitement. The board has decided to add a 3rd repeater to the club’s resources. The Yaesu DR-1 has generated a lot of interest in central Iowa. These repeaters have already been installed as replacements for existing repeaters in Perry, Bridgewater and Alleman.
The new VHF digital / analog repeater will be installed at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines. The new repeater will be installed alongside a new UHF repeater for Polk County ARES. Frequency coordination for both repeaters is in process.
The club has no plans to replace either WØAK-1 located near Park and Fleur or WØAK-2 recently installed at the Des Moines VA Medical Center.
