The Des Moines Radio Amateurs Association will hold the annual Field Day event at the Fort Des Moines Museum and Education Center 75 East Army Post Road, Des Moines, IA June 21st through June 23, 2024.

We will be operating as a 5 Echo (five transmitters from a permanent station location on emergency power) entry for the on air portion of Field Day.  This will allow the use of the club station’s antenna and tower in addition to the temporary antennas that will be set up.

Friday June 21st starting at 1:00pm we will start setting up additional antennas and running coax.
Saturday June 22nd 9:00am Setup and testing of the stations continues.
Saturday June 22nd 1:00pm On the air Operation begins.
Saturday June 22nd 5:00pm Food
Saturday June 22nd approximately 8:30pm shutdown and secure the Field Day site for the night.
Sunday June 23rd 8:00am Field Day operation resumes
Sunday June 23rd 1:00pm Field Day on the air operations cease.  Tear down begins.

Technician class licensees as well as the unlicensed public will be able to participate in Field Day by making contacts on HF with the help of a properly licensed control operator providing support and encouragement.

Field Day is a great setting to try radio.  Many people are nervous and run out of things to say when put on the radio for first time.  Field Day has designated information that each station exchanges providing a flow that a newcomer can pick up on after listening briefly.
