Ron Overholser, KDØTTO was presented with the DMRAA’s “Ham of the year award” at the club’s annual Christmas Party Tuesday December 8th.

The Wintrop Mager award is given to the club member that illustrates dedication to Amateur Radio and the principles of leadership with in the Des Moines Radio Amateurs Association.  Ron serves the club as an elected board member.   Ron became a Ham in 2012 and has shown an eagerness to learn and serve.  It seems like we were immediately asking him to help with various projects. While a bit nervous at first he would always say yes!

Ron routinely volunteers for Polk County ARES activities.  He was the chef behind the very tasty BBQ beef at the recent Field Day event in June.. He was responsible for the great Chilifeed / Auction in November.

The DMRAA is proud to honor the hard work of members like Ron with the Winthrop Mager Award.
