Polk County ARES will again provide communications support for the annual Fight for Air Climb March 29th, 2020. This event takes place at 4 tall buildings in downtown Des Moines.  Participants climb the stairs in all four buildings. It takes approximately 25 radio operators to adequately staff this event. The Head of the Des Moines Rowing Regatta,  September 28th, 2019.  This event takes place on the Des Moines River.  Visiting college teams paddle upstream and race against the clock.  This event requires approximately 18 operators.  To sign up go to https://dmraa.com/ares

The Market to Market Relay Race is May 11th, 2019.  This event requires about 25 operators  Operators are stationed about every 5 – 6 miles from Jefferson to Des Moines.  The race starts at 6:00 AM in Jefferson and finishes in Des Moines by 9:00 PM.  Most operators are on station for about 4.5 hours.  […]
