There have been two simultaneous bills introduced into the
transportation committees of the Iowa House and Senate. HF-85 and
SSB-1002 both read almost alike and cover the use of electronics while
driving. They also provide for fine of $500.00, and/or license
suspension up to 180 days.

We are encouraging all amateurs in Iowa to contact their respective
state Senators and Congress Members and encourage the implementation of
an amateur radio exemption to these bills.
