Recently several employees with Mid-American energy met to discuss the possibility of starting a radio club. The interest in this endeavor follows the installation of a radio room at the Mid-American Control Center in Urbandale. The radio room which includes UHF, VHF and multiple analog and digital radios also has HF capacities and commercial radios. The purpose of this room is to offer redundant communication platforms in the event of a disaster which could affect normal communications.
John Halbrook KCØRAL and Scott Ranes K1SLR are coordinating the startup club.
