The news has been full of stories of credit card data that has been compromised by way of merchant transactions.

We in the United States are about the only country left in the world using magnetic strip technology.  The rest of the world has converted to the Chip Card or EMV.  EMV is short for Europay, MasterCard, Visa and has become the standard for electronic money changing not only with merchants but at ATMs as well.

as to what’s coming later this year.

Stephen Sladek is in the technology section of Bankers Trust and will present a program which should  clarify the EMV for us.
