Icom ID-880H announced as Hamfest raffle prize!

Hams honored at DMRAA Christmas party

Three Des Moines-area amateur radio operators were honored at this year’s DMRAA Christmas party. George Noble, KK7FM, was awarded the Winthrop Mager Award, while Russ (W0DAY) and Dale (N0INX) were also honored. All three hams have showed exceptional service to fellow hams and their communities.

The 2009 Chili Feed/Auction was a great success! Many radio operators and their family members joined us at the event, and many many pounds of chili were consumed and many many boatanchors were sold away, to the satisfaction of several XYL’s. The September general meeting was well-attended. Brenda McGraw (KD0EDJ), the emergency management coordinator for Mercy Hospital, and A.J. Mumm, Polk County emergency manager, addressed the H1N1 flu threat at the September general meeting. The presentation included an update, protection and preparedness tips as well as the mission of Polk County EMA and their role during a health emergency.
